I loved the magical world of The Full Moon Coffee Shop, and I was delighted to return to the enchanted coffee drinks and sweet treats, served by celestial cats, found in the second two books. Best Wishes From The Full Moon Coffeeshop is a Christmas-themed collection. I don’t always love Christmas stories, there can be something saccharine and overdone in them, but this one managed to hit a seasonal warmth without that forced too-happy atmosphere.
One of the things I like in all the Full Moon Coffee Shop books is the warm and affectionate relationships that aren’t romances. We see affection and love between auntie and niece, or between different types of friends, and these relationships are valued, too. It makes these delightful escapist fiction.
Dreamers of the Full Moon Coffee Shop, the third one, is slightly different because the stories are more linked. We see secrets and emotions from different angles in a complicated story, again, all connected with the wonderful celestial cats serving galaxy treats, along with their advice. I loved having the story revealed to me this way, and discovering the connections, but you must be in the right mood to enjoy a gentle, character-driven unfolding, this book isn’t a suspenseful page-turner.
Of course, I love the world of planet/deities who each have their special influence, and I love them most as cats. This is such a warm and lovely escapist read, even though the story presents complex relationships.
